Hey,

Im looking for a decent Radar Detector for under £100, if not under £150. I dont know if you can get them for this price.

I want it to warn me when they are:

GATSO SAFETY CAMERAS
RADAR GUNS
LASER GUNS
ALL RADAR / LASER BASED SPEED MONITORING SYSTEMS

So it can be able to decect lasers :)

Thanks.

just a point about laser detectors

laser speed guns work by firing a blast of laser at you, bouncing it back and working out the speed from that

problem is that it can do this in a matter of seconds

by which time you've only just reacted and reached for the brake pedal, but its too late

Laser detectors can sometimes pick up laser "splash" which is when a car in front of you has the laser pointed at you, but in this case, you probably wouldnt have been detected anyway

so dont worry too much about laser detection.

You want a GPS based system, not a radar detector - they're not that useful, generally, and I believe they will soon be made illegal.

GPS systems are, on the other hand, fine.

Choose wisely.

I was given a Snooper S1 Premier Series Safety Alert System, and the thing was useless!

When you went down a street it would beep constantly because of all the automatic door sensors, it would also beep at traffic lights.

Main problem is that it wouldn't make any noise what so ever when you passed a camera! I tested it on 5 different cameras around me, and not once did it beep.

I now just use TomTom with the speed camera database, works great.

So make sure you can take it back if it turns out to be useless.

Which is why the advice above is correct - get a GPS based system. The Snooper S1 is a radar detector... which will detect GATSO, and just about any random device that emits the same waves - garage forecourts, the lot.
