Hello all. This is my first post on these forums, so hope this aint too newb.

Been searching for a graphic card for my new rig and it's coming down to either:

- The radeon 4870 1GB
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-091-PC

or

- The BFG Geforce GTX 260 OC 896MB
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-078-BG

Thing is, I've read that although the radeon performs well with larger displays (will be playing on a full HD tv), I've also heard that it runs very hot, with some reports of loud fan / "scraping" noise.

Any advice you folks can offer on the pros/cons of each card would be much appreciated.

So the asus p5q boards are actually PCI E 1.1?

The description on overclockers mentions that the board comes with PCI E 2.0 compatibility:

"1 x PCIe 2.0 x16"

Think I need to do some more reading..

So what (after all this) is the general consensus on the asus PQ5 board then?

I'm basically looking for some accurate advice on a decent board, around £75-£90 that is socket 775 and has pci E 2.0 (Decided to go with the BFG GeForce GTX 260 OCX MAXCORE 896MB).

I appreciate all the advice posted here, and there is really no need to argue over it imo.

Thanks folks. :D
