I'm just installing my new 4870 card and notice there are 2 x 6-pin PCI connections that need to be connected to my PSU. However, I only have one 6-Pin cable from my OCZ Modstream PSU. Will this be enough or do I need to buy another 6-pin PCI cable?

I do have a PCI Express power converter (LP4 connector into a 6-pin PCI connecter). Will this work?

Thanks in advance.

You need another 6 pin. Didnt the card come with that Lp4 to 6 pin adaptor? Yes it will work. You should have to use 2 molex connections to supply the power.

It needs both 6 pin PCI-e power connections to be plugged in.

On a related note, the Sapphire 4870 I bought came with two 4pin (molex I think) to 6 pin PCI-e convertors. With my old 8800gt, the adaptor it came with was a x2 4 pin molex to x1 6 pin PCI-e connector, how come the connectors that came with the 4870 only need 1 4 pin now?

They probably realised most people were plugging the two molexes (molicies?) into the same 12v rail, and often even into two adjacent sockets on one power lead....thereby totally negating the point of having two.

You need BOTH 6 pin pcie power connectors connected , if you dont have a psu with 2 on dont connect the molex ones to the same 12v rail ;)
