I've just an installed an XFI Radeon HD 5870 with latest drivers. It's the oc'd triple x version, which means it should have a core clock of 875MHz and a memory clock: 5200MHz (Effective).

Catalyst Control Center and ATI Tools both gives me a "Default GPU clock" of 875 Mhz, but the "Default Mem Clock" is only at 1300 Mhz. Is there a particular reason for the disparity in default memory speed that I'm missing?

found this on google

with ddr5 memory you multiply the memory clock x 4 and you get 5200mhz effective....the actual speed of the vram.....

ddr2 and ddr3 vram you multiply the memory clock x2 to get the effective speed
