My brothers been looking at a 2GB Powercolor HD 6870 X2, he can get a new one for £200, he has an i7 920, his monitor is 1080P.

Anyone have one these cards?

Cheers

If he's not tech savvy with a pc I wouldn't bother, as crossfire can cause you to go bald early at times.

If he is, and has a decent psu / case cooling / appropriate motherboard then I'd say yes for the price-vs-performance.

I dont think he means 2 cards, i think he is referring to a dual gpu card.

Grab a 570 instead. Not as powerful but it will stay play a lot of things maxed out in 1080p. Will also be less power draw and no multi-GPU problems such as stuttering/poor crossfire support.

Hi guys

Thanks for the feedback, he went ahead and bought the card, so far he's had no problems with it running the games he plays, it appears to be a very fast card , now he's wanting to upgrade his cpu, psu, motherboard and get another 6870 X2.

This I fear may be an expensive and somewhat risky adventure.

Pointless getting another. The GPU's don't scale that well past 2.
