Radeon 9600pro Problems

Hey.

I recently acquired a ATi Radeon 9600pro, but I have noticed some serious problems with it.

On Half-Life 2, the max FPS I can get is around 30, and it can even drop below 5 when I destroy a large section of wood with a crow-bar. All this is on low settings, because it barely runs at all on high, even thought HL2 recommends it for my system.

Same happens with CS:S, and I even get drops to around 20-30fps in CS:1.6 at times.

I struggle to get above 20 fps in areas in WoW where there are no enemies and people, and in towns, the FPS has been known to drop to around 1 XD

I am guessing there is a problem with my card? I have installed the latest drivers, but still no changes.

Prior to acquiring this card, I ran off on-board graphics, so I am thinking that there may be a possible confliction, but in every game and in control panel, it still says that the 9600pro is being used - so I am a little sceptical.

My system (v. outdated I know, going for a total reinvention when DX10 is out)

Ati Radeon 9600pro
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
1G RAM
No idea on power supply
AGP 4x Motherboard (maybe the 4x slots are causing poor performance?)

Any insight or help on my problem would be usefull.

Thankyou :)

not too sure mate, what power is your psu? but im running simliar system 9800pro amd3000 and get 60fps on css with high res and decent graphics settings. So seems as tho something is up. Was your last gfx card running them better than this?
