Does anyone know who makes the thermal material used on the Radeon HD 3870 memory heatsink? Thanks

Does anyone know where I can get this thermal material from? (See original post)
Please advise by email (in trust), I don't want to get anyone banned. Thanks

File a bit off the standoff's and fit directly with a little AS5 or whatever...do not overtighten and make sure You have good contact with all ram chips

You can do the same for the VRM cooler also

If You don't mind moding anything is better than 1mm of insulation (sorry thermal pad) between the components and heatsink

Unfortunately I can't do this, I have a problem with the card so I'm trying to return it to the original spec in order to send it back to the manufacturer under warranty. Sorry I should have mentioned this in my original post.

Your suggestion was something I considered before I eventually decided to upgrade to a Zalman cooler.
There's no reason I can see for having such a excessive gap between the ram and the heatsink, even if the latter does double as a means of stiffening (supporting) the PCB.

Thank you for your response.

I'm also after the three screws used to attach the memory heatsink to PCB on the HD 3870 (see below).
