Hey guys i have a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card that i would like to safely over clock a bit, but i am unsure what is the best settings for this, can anyone help ?

Just a heads up, don't push it to far with out a custom cooler on it there great cards but they do get hot fast.

Thanks for the info, not wanting to push it too much as it plays every game i have easy enough, but wanna squeeze a bit more juice from it :p

^ i had 2 of the sapphire can't remember the Oc on them but i don't think it was that impressive :(
The system kept shutting down, cards were getting way to hot had the retail fans on.
Maybe if id fitted 3rd party coolers i suppose i could have pushed them abit more.

i have the sapphire does 960/1300 with ease on default volts the memory on these is more the tricky area most seem to do 900-1000mhz core speed but memory seems more limited

Thanks guys, i will just put it up a small fraction each day and see how it goes, its a damm good card never had a problem with it, but with the newer games it does not do as good anymore, i think an upgrade is on the cards soon :D (wife will not be happy)

only reason not to use amd overdrive is if you want more than the max clocks amd od will let you go to

well so far i have got it to 900/1260 not sure i can push the GPU clock much more or the memory, will anything bad happen ? or will it just crash and reset to defaults if something goes wrong ?

Yeah you can push the clocks as much as you want and it won't damage the card. The only think that will damage the card is putting too much extra voltage through it. Also adding more memory doesn't really add to increased performance I've found. Stick to maxxing out the core clock first.

I dont think i am in any danger of doing that then, since AMD over drive does not seem to have any option for that :D

It should do 960mhz all day long just fine it's the memory which tends to spaz out first

Been running my 5770 for years @ 960/1300 with no problems what so ever just remember to bung the fan on manual and try and keep gaming load temps under 70c

my PSU gets extremely hot so maybe not a good idea to make it like that yet. have bought a new PSU today, but forgot to get a 6pin PCI connector :(
