Yo.

Was just looking at a thread about micro stuttering and Radeon Pro improving the situation because a 7950 on a PC in my house is kicking up mean micro stuttering in BF4 and remembered that RadeonPro development stopped because one of its devs was hired by the Raptr team - this ****ed off a LOT of people.

Do you guys reckon there is any way we could speak out to AMD or Raptr about getting the guy that was hired back on the job with really improving the AMD graphics experience? RadeonPro is a powerful application, but it's outdated and not open sourced, so things are broken and features are missing that we may have seen by now.

Discuss.

Radeonpro still working very well here? Not had one game yet not work with it. Sure I was little gutted when John left RP, but I also very happy for him now for years he done RP in his free time and now about time his work as got him a full time job.

Already starting to see his work in raptr and things will only get better.

They is feature of RP that will never go into raptr though. All I waiting for now is his on screen display software added to raptr and that's radeonpro removed from my system.

Most of the application includes the little AA tweaks and various little features that you aren't able to do directly with the Catalyst driver. Great stuff. RP doesn't even recognise my card model anymore for some reason. I mean, it works, sure, but it could be a lot better.

Raptr is okay, but its social features are crapware and it doesn't do 90% of the stuff that RP does in terms of tweaks.

I just want the damned thing open sourced so that people can play with it.

It will never be open source, because he wants most to be added to raptr. Things that can break a game will remain with radeonpro.
Maybe try doing a clean uninstall of radeonpro?

He was saying that Raptr was supposed to be user friendly. Many of those features aren't, I don't know what some of them do.

God, custom resolutions would be really rather nice.

Is this on a single card or crossfire? It's not normal to have stutter, perhaps we can find out the cause behind it.

What cpu and what speed is it running at?

DX or Mantle?

RadeonPro still works reasonably well, but this wont always be the case. It is a massive shame that the guy sold out to AMD - Raptr will NEVER have any of the features of RadeonPro. It is additionally annoying because there are some games on my 7990 that are only playable due to the features of RadeonPro :(

Sell out? He didn't sell out, look how meny years he did everything in his own. They not a single person in this world that would have said no to the opportunity he was given.

It's likely thanks to him we have GameDVR.

Single 7950. It used to be in my rig and I had no such problems. I believe the CPU is a Phenom II X6 1090T or something similar. So 3.2GHz? Using DX11.

This stutter is really bad. Frequent (like 5 seconds or less) and it does seem fairly regular. It could even be a background program causing the issue. It's actually my Dad's machine and I can't stand watching him playing with that stutter but he's always reluctant to let me have a look at it when the issue is occurring because he's playing -.-

Use Mantle and 14.7 drivers. Don't bother with DX, don't settle for less. Ensure page file size is on auto.

Doesn't mantle make the graphics look watered down? That was my experience with BF4 before I uninstalled it (really awful game in my opinion... annoyed that I bought it).

Lol no it does not. Mantle >> Dx. Don't settle for less.

... It does. There is a definite difference in the graphical reproduction between Mantle and DX. There is a more smooth washy look to Mantle graphics than the sharp and dare I say "realistic" look to the DX graphics. I know, I tested it, I have a good eye for these things. Unless the API has drastically changed since I used in Battlefield a few months back, I very much doubt that the appearance of the graphics has changed.

That was patched long time ago. You mean the foggy draw distance? That everyone wouldn't shut up about.
Fixed

As I just said, I'll enable Mantle API and see what happens.

Still doesn't detract from the fact that the game was broken for the entirety of the time it was installed on my system (netcode, bugs). And the poor maps... and the overwhelming brown...
