Hey guys was hoping you could help me out, had my PC just over a year now but have constantly been having problems with low fps in games and having to lower quality setting just to make games playable.

Here are my specs;

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz

Gigabyte Radeon R9280X

MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Series Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard

650W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply

8GB RAM

2TB HDD

120 GB SSD

For the life of me I cant figure out what the problem is, is it the graphics card? it came with BF4 free, but has never been able to run it at over 50fps lower settings/ 20fps max settings.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ross

Yea thats not right,i owned that card before, should be able to hold 60fps in BF4 maxxed out(1080p)

Was the PC a fresh build at the time? What resolution is your monitor? I take it you have updated your graphics drivers in the time since building the PC?

Download and install this http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/hwmonitor_1.27.exe

Load up a game play it for 10-15 mins, report back max temperatures recorded for CPU and GPU

Just left battlefield running for 10 minutes, GPU Max temp was 54 C. and CPU i noticed was very hot with 100 C. I have a heat sink on cpu though?

Your experiencing thermal throttling on your CPU,this is why performance in all your games is bad.

What heat sink are you using, and does it have a fan on it/is it spinning?

It should ramp up its speed as cpu temeprature increaces automatically. What max rpm does the fan show?

By the sounds of it you have a mis-mounted cooler,or the cooler lacked thermal compound(unlikely tho as its already applied to the heatsink when you buy it)

Have you experienced poor performance since the day you bought this PC?

CPU throttling; best bet; spend 15-20 quid on a decent cpu cooler and some thermal paste.....and replace intel cooler.

Intel cooler is a pile of crap; it will keep it cool enough at stock speeds but forget about any sort of OC; and you'll see things go a lot better....:)
