I'm upgrading to the R9 290, the specs recommend a 600W PSU. I have a 550W PSU and I've used an online calculator to estimate my power usage with the new card and it comes out at 462W.

Is just under 100W enough margin to be safe?

Should be fine as long as its a decent psu.

Sorry for delay, my PSU is:

Delta GPS 750AB A

I salvaged it from a pre-built PC from PC World when I built my current PC so that's why it's such a random make and model.

It looks like it's max output is 750W but as I understand it that is completely different to it's continuous output and it won't support 750W constantly.

I've linked a google image of the PSU sticker below. Hope it's ok to link since it's just google.

edit: The sticker says 18A on the 12V rails and I'm upgrading from the 6870 card.
