Radeon x800 GT VS 6800 GS

Just a quick question really, have ordered an OcUK 6800 GS, from the B grade seection and a mate of mine says that it will be no faster than my current x800 GT. WOuld really just like some input on this.

Having said that, why I'm listening to him I don't know because this is the guy that told me his XP 2500 was 64 bit

your X800GT would be just a tad faster than the GeForce 6600GT. The GeForce 6800GS, has a clear lead over the 6600GT, so I'd say yes, you'll notice a difference. Plus you have the added visual options like SM3.0 and the like

I'll confirm that. The 6800gs is a category above the X800GT (it also overclocks a lot better too).

The GS also has a faster memory clock speed as opposed to the X800 GT. Will know exactly how much better it is tomorrow. I thought for £79.90 it was worth a pop.

Well the city link man has just been, opened the box to see a 6800 GT had been sent, opened box and a cpacitor fell out the box

Fell off the card itself? That can't be good. Have you tried it yet? If it works it's a bit of a deal as the 6800gt does mildly outperform the 6800gs.

The GT would clock to an Ultra too, but if a capacitors fallen off, best to RMA it.

They gave me a refund in the end. Card is mine to do what I wish with too.

No harm trying to run it in your system tho. Running an X800 with 2 popped capacitors and it still works flawlessly
