Hey all,

It's time for me to change case and with that new fans

I'm looking at the D888WX
I very much like my lamptron cw611 which lets me control all my fans automatically via temp sensors, however it's 3 pin fan connectors

So I'm looking for the best 3 pin fans for rads which can handle slow speeds yet still fire up very high when needed, without being loud when low

I was looking at the ff5, ML120 or ff4er

But as they are all pwm I don't think they handle voltage control well
Are there better options other than buying a new costly controller I have 2 in my case now and that case has 18 fans to control
Thanks for your input

Most fans will be near-silent below 1000rpm.
I favour Noctuas, as they're pretty quiet at full chat compared to other fans and still deliver decent performance. They're also great with voltage control. Most of the others I'd consider, either 3 or 4-pin, you've already mentioned.

Not sure how you have your set up right now, but that Lamptron-611 has 6 channels with 36w per channel. Even if you pack your case with Noctua NF-A14 Industrial PPC 3000 fans drawing 6.6w, that one controller should accommodate 30 of them!!
Certainly no idea why you have two controllers, unless one is a hub, or something?

Currently I run delta EHE and I have 1 Typhoon the 5400rpm
I have them on different channels based on the different zones those fans hit, then the other controller is just an old zalman with power draw on the display and basic control over 4 fans, I don't really need it, it just runs 4 fans that are at set speeds

From what I can see I can use a pwm fan on the lamptron but it sounds like it struggles to run at low voltages for startup of fans, so I thought it best to ask which pwm fans would handle low voltage.
Seems the ml120 is not a good choice based on reviews

I'm running Cougar Vortex fans on an old Corsair H100i I swapped them out and the sound levels on my pc are half of what they were with the Corsair fans I have a corsair 750D and swapped all the corsair for Cougar ( 2 x 140 4 x 120 ). Only trouble is the have orange blades but they dont show that much when running. My 1800X runs at between 30 - 40 degrees on a 4GHz overclock. Check out Overclockers Website for Cougar fans

Could use 2 of these :

Thermaltake Commander FP, 10 Port Fan Splitter Hub for PWM Fans

Only a tenner each.

I run 7 ML120s' from 1 hub controlled via BIOS, at minimum ( ~ 470rpm) start-up. Absolute silence at low speed and can ramp up to silly levels if needed.

And as it is pwm , no dimming of the lights at low speeds.
