Having newly installed my watercooling rig; cooled by a nexos 3x 120mm radiator.
Im now looking at fans for it. With a single generic 120mm it keeps my current CPU around 35'c under full load.

I'd like 3x fairly quiet fans, but im not sure whether to go with 3x ystech or similar on a fan controller:

whether to go for 3x scythe or nocturna fans simply running at 12v, or whether they'd work ok on a fan controller too?

Both those fans should be ok on a fan controller, I've not had an experience with the scythe's but I've got a couple of the Noctua's and they're fine. Most seem to go with Yate-Loons as they're in the same area performance wise and are much cheaper.

Need a high pressure fan to get through the dense rad core for any sort of decent performance, low noise fans are better suited for use on open core rads like Thermochill PA series.

Look for 38mm deep fans, YS-techs are suitable though noisy even undervolted, Panaflo/NBM or Papst are generally better.

How does my "Alphacool NexXxoS Xtreme III" differ from the PA 120.3? obviously different manufacturers, but in terms of the design, and theories? I'll go and have a look for some nice 38mm Fans; the only downside would be that mounting becomes more difficult... you wouldn't believe the problems finding M3 bolts in lengths of more than 30mm!!

Mainly a lower core density allows slower/quiet fans to be used without a large impact on performance, most review links would be classed a competitors, below is a sample :

thanks - found some interesting reading following on from that thread; will keep me amused throughout the working day :)
