Hi,

For a quiet solution, could anyone please advise me if one 360mm radiator with a reasonably wide fine spread is OK to water cool one CPU and one GPU at moderate fan speeds? If it will be OK, what number of fins per inch should I be looking for and would anyone please be able to recommend a radiator make and model? I will probably use Noctua 120mm P12 or F12 fans on the radiator with a preference for P12 if they will do the job.

I prefer to have the PC running quiet if it is only at the expense of a few degrees temperature rather than go for all out lowest temperatures. I will not be adding any more GPU's in the future as it is for a temporary 24/7 short term project.

Thx for any advice.

What are the GPU and CPU that you will be cooling? The GPU is especially important as they tend to be the much higher power parts. Also how thick can the rad be?

I had a XSPC AX360 with 3 noctua P12s and it was barely enough to cool a 780 and 2550K in my H440 (really low airflow). However at a later date I switched the Noctua P12s for Arctic Cooling F12s (a £4 fan) and temps dropped significantly.

really disco? the ax preforms pretty well with high rpm fans.
But yeah the type of radiator and the type of components does matter, not knowing the parts i would say for a 360 rad to cool that you will have to have the fans running fairly quick when the computer is under heavy load which obviously means you want a rad with medium fin count. If you had more rad space you could have lower fpi and run lower speed fans

The GPU will be a GTX580 or possibly a GTX780, the CPU will be a Xeon 5650 (1366), the case will be a Temjin TJ07. The case is quite large with good airflow so not sure if I will be OK with the Noctua P12's or should I change them?

I will place the radiator in the lower compartment of the TJ07 so the radiator can be quite thick. I could go to a 480mm radiator but I prefer to keep one of the HDD bays in the lower compartment of the Temjin TJ07 hence the preference for a 360mm radiator.

Thx

you might want to look at something like the xspc rx360 or something along those lines then. This has pretty good low fan speed performance and is slightly thicker than most rads but with better perfoming radiators you get higher cost so this also comes into account. most 360 rads will handle this just with varying degree of temp and fan speed

Yeah that was the issue, I have my fans at around 1000rpm so the performance really started to drop off - especially after the air has to get into the case first.

i have an fx8350 @4.8ghz and an evga gtx770 sc acx @1384mhz and with 2 x ek pe240 rads and corsair sp120 performance editions turned right down on the fan controller the gpu barely breaks 45 deg c and cpu 41 deg c in games like bf4. are all xeons low power draw? the fx8350 is a power monster when overclocked so if the xeon is low power draw i would think a thick 360 like the xspc rx would be a good choice. sp120 performance fans full bore are really loud, the quiet versions are really quiet but obviously performance suffers a little due to lower rpm. id recommend either high speed pwm fans and set up a fan curve yourself or do what ive done get a fan controller and whack them up on full if you ever need to.
