hey guys just some advice please my radiator (thermochill 120.3 isn't filling up in my watercooling system... the rad only seems to fill with water when i tilt the case forwards (front side with bays facing forward) is it ok to fill the res whilst the pump is on?

i'm thinking if it is safe for me to fill the res whilst i tilt the case forward and the rad is being filled with water and the water line goes down to almost empty??

also i have noticed one or two of the fins on the rad are a bit bent, would this affect the performance??

Dont let your pump run dry, some pumps go hay wire if you let them run dry.

And i tilt my case all over the place when filling it. If you can tilt the case or get someone to hold it, then keep pouring in the water and run the pump to try to fill your loop it should help.

The fins being bent should be fine just once you dont puncture the actual rad.

how do i know if the rad is punctured smelf?

and the rad is attached to the top of my case, on abit of an incline also so the part with the barb fittings is like a mm or so lower than the other end of the rad, mite this be an issue...?

I have two seperate loops in my case, and one rad is on top of the case.

I filled them up seperatly and for the top rad tilted the case upside down while filling the res, this way all the water flowed into the rad and pushed out the air.

If your rad is not leaking your fine. You can try to bend back the fins, the rads in cars always have bend and damaged fins from stone hits and they cause no issues until you actually puncture the rad. In which case it leaks.

there seem to be drops of water coming out of the fins/holes in the rad, someone said this is normal when the case is tilted though?

do you think turning the rad upside down may help me?

I've turned mine upside down before - but I fill my loop with mavity not my pump (my very first loop had a 3w pump)
I have the luxury of a fill line on my res. so when the case tiped up on it's back the res (which is at the front of the case)
will drain water into both the rad (roof) and through the pump into the blocks. Hope that makes sence...

shake case - tip forwards - tip back - add more water - shake - add - tip (repeat many times)

once the loop is 80-90% full I fill the res and fill line - turn on the pump - and keep adding water.

That sound bad.
Is it a PA rad (not very good at guessing rads from photo's)
if so you may have punchtured it with the inc self tapping screws (you will not be the first)

And yes I use a EK multi option res 'upside down'

why you got two threads going now i read this one seems like you have not said about screws being put in,now it seems likely you have put a hole in the rad using the screws??

sorry guys :(

but yes i think the rad is punctured, but i only screwed it from the top, and its leaking from both sides, im sure i have put the screws into the fins for me to have punctured it, otherwise how else do i screw the rad on to my case?!

Take the tubes off the rad. Cut a small length of tube and put it on one of the rads barbs. Put your finger over the other barb. Blow into the tube. If it is punctured you will feel the pressure falling, or even hear it. Don't blow too hard though, the channels do flex.

i've done this and it seems to be fine actually, no pressure drop, air seems to be going through fine and no noise either, but i still cant imagine why the water drips out of the rad the way it does or even why it aint filling properly :(
