I've been paying £5 a week for 15 years to rent a TV. Today I phoned Radio Rentals up to cancel and to ask them to come and collect their TV. They said they can cancel my agreement but I can do what I like with the TV.

Meaning to say if I didn't cancel, they would carry on taking £5 a week off me for ever more.

Firstly Radio Rentals still exist?

Secondly you have a 15 year old TV and its cost you how much?

Sounds like you've singlehandedly kept them in business.

You are joking surely?

You've been paying £5 a week for 15 years for the same telly?

Surely not? If that is the case, I don't think you should be left unsupervised.

£20 a month. You could probably get a TV on finance for that and still have it paid off quicker. At least you have resale value as well.

I had to get rid of a CRT TV recently. It was a right PITA and nearly crippled me taking it down the dump. In the OP's position I'd have insisted they take it away or charge them storage and then removal costs.

So assuming his TV is actually 15 years old and hasn't been replaced with a TFT in that time he's spent a fortune on it and now probably has to pay to get it taken away.

Hey OP, I've got a new state of the art flat screen TV, yours for only £4.99 per week if you guarantee to keep it for 15 years.

Interested?

Wasn't this a rent to buy thing? As in when you had rented long enough you owned it?

I know that's basically what has happened, but man, TV should have been yours after 2 years at most!
