i've finally given up my tape deck and i'm not missing it apart from being able to record shows on radio to listen to later and i wonder how i can do this now without a tape deck? equipment i have now is a NADc320bee amp, NADc422 tuner and a xi-fi extreme music soundcard so i'm guessing a 2xrca-mini jack for the soundcard in? microphone in?, but where to plug into the amp? a tape-out? or pre-out? or?

cheers :)

thanks, recording to mp3 is'nt a prob just need to get the signal in, think i've figured it out though the manual says whatever the amp is receiving is sent to tape-out2 in analog, so i'll just plug that into the line-in on my sound card and it should work, just need to get a long enough lead now.

Ever thought of streaming off the web and recording it that way?
If so I can recommend Total Recorder.

trouble is most commercial streams are pap quality. they're not even worth recording. plus the inevitable buffering happens to everyone now and then.... :p

I can't disagree.
I used to stream and record Planet Rock but because of the buffering I ended up buying a Pure Digital DMX50 system where it records to a SD card.

I have the NAD C320BEE amp and NAD 414 tuner, all I do is take the dual phono plugs (RCA) (of the tuner) out of the back of the amp, and connect it into Line in on a breakput box of a Terratec DMX6 Fire 24/96, so simply do the same with the xi-fi extreme music, ie. tuner RCAs from amp into line in of soundcard, then use audacity or other software to record and put into audio file, ie MP3 etc.

I have done this a number of time and the quality is quite acceptable. :)

cheers i'll try that along with the tape-out and see which works best for me.

so, tuner-out to soundcard-in, soundcard-out to aux-in (as it is already), then to listen to the tuner i'd just turn it on and select aux on the amp to hear as well as being able to record it also?

if the tape-out to soundcard-in method works i'd prefer that as it's slightly less confusing :) will have to see once i get another rca-mini lead.

another q for the nad people, the "pre amp/main in" link pins, i've read some people are using expensive interconnects on those instead of the link pins, what difference does that make? or have do i the wrong stick of end the?

Yes, that's what works for me. ;)
