Hi all

I currently have a radeon 6850 HD graphics card in my pc. I'm looking to get bits for a new pc and was wondering how this card would stand up? If it's not good enough could you make some recommendations for around £170 mark

Cheers :)

Yep, for that-ish budget the only option is the R9 380 to be honest.

If your new PC has a 500W+ PSU and isn't small form factor there is no better suggestion really.

Sorry my original post wasnt clear.

I am about to buy all the bits for a new PC and the £170 approx is my budget for a gfx card. I was just wondering if the 6850HD would work ok or is it well out of date now.

I have around £750 total for my pc (including OS, dont need keyboard /mouse / monitor)

Thanks for the replies so far :)

That R9 380 looks nice!

Get a moderate motherboard with cheap 1600mhz memory and you might be able to stretch to a 390. Or just save a little bit more for it. Its worth it imo.

If you were doing a new build I'd definitely get a new GPU - It's the quickest part to become outdated/not sufficient. Of course, if you only play games such as MOBAs, or generally not intensive games there's nothing wrong with sticking with what works.

Post in General Hardware, saying you have a £750 budget for computer + OS, with no peripherals - someone like Stulid would help you out before long :)

A 6850 is slower than a 7850 so you are looking at a considerable performance leap.

You are on the 4gb 380 money but personally I'd wait a few weeks and save a little more to get either a 380X if it appears or a 390 for between 250 and 280. That way you are looking at twice the power, According to this closer too 4 times the power. The 380 has more than twice the power so a 4gb of that would be a nice solution if you simply won't spend more.

This would be a great choice

Theres always new cards due out soon :)

Like Joe said start a post in the General hardware section and see if someone can come up with a system for ya, i wouldnt cheap out on the graphics card unless your not playing any graphically intensive games atm.

bump :p

Looking to upgrade. Has served me well over the years but it struggles with UT4. What would you recommend? £200 ish is my budget.

Also, how much could I sell it on ebay or CEX? Bugger all I'm guessing.

Thx
