RAF Careers

Looking into similar career too. One of my (army) friends is just about to finish his 1st year at Sandhurst and another has done her first month of IOT at Cranley (i think).

Hey bud, ive been in for about 13 months now so i will help best i can.

I see you have gone for commision, is there any reason for this? I was speaking to a friend who works in intelligence, they obviously couldnt tell me much but he was saying it's a really interesting job and your always on your toes. Thats all i really know about your trade im afriad.

Not really sure what you want to know so if you put some specific questions up ill do my best to answer them.

Got cut short in my previous post. I got a question :)

I am currently in my final year at uni, but am staying on one more year as VP of the SU. This will be from July to July. Interested in joining as a navigator (too old for pilot), could you tell me the time frames for joining/applying? IOT starts around the start of the year right?

There are different starting times for IOT throughout the year. The time frame also depends on how desperate they are for the specific trade, and when they are taking on that specific trade for training, for example, if you applied in Sept and they just took on a lot of navigators to start training then, you may have to wait a few extra months, your best bet is to head straight down to your local AFCO (armed forces careers office) and have a word with them, since you are at uni there is a chance you may get a grant to help with fee's also. Finally this helped me a lot when i was applying,

Thank you for the info :)

Interesting to see that Pay after training for a Chaplain is £34,900 and Pay after training for a Fighter Pilot is £31,900!:confused:

It must be Hell. :p

However, Pay after training for a Dental Officer is £47,750!

Blimey!
