With not much on yesterday afternoon and the weather improving I made a trip over to RAF Cottesmore to see what the Harriers were up to.

It was a busy day with a lot of flying.

Here are a few....

My other halfs Brother worked there (BAE systems).

been to a couple of air shows there as well, always good. :)

Great pics by the way.

I saw 2 harriers right over the A1 on the way home from work yesterday, not far from Peterborough, they do look cool.
Looking forward to Waddington airshow this year, only 1.5 miles down the road :D

Thanks everyone. I'm interested to see if people liked no #1 or #2 more. I've posted these on a couple other forums and opinion is split so far.

Ah, the JUMP upgrade line? I've been in there a couple of times but sadly it's off limits for photography.

He isn’t in one place anymore, travels from base to base doing all sorts, never tells me what though which is intriguing.

When I first met my other half though her Brother was working on the Harriers, which always made me wonder how they ever worked, LOL

I don't think he is allowed to talk about the things he is working on at the moment mind, he did tell us about when he was working on the Eurofighter (Typhon) though which sounded really cool.

little off topic Gord, but me and a mate are thinking of going and watching/photographing some low level stuff...I live near Newtown Wales, so any thoughts?
Maybe we could chat via email....

Read up here, I'll be on Cad West next week, don't bother this week as there is a no flying order from Valley.

I love the idea of shooting some of these low level flyby's would my 70-300mm be enough or would i need a 400mm as suggested on the site ?

cheers

No problem Troop.

Plum, a 70-300 would be enough at most locations. I prefer my 300 f/4 L IS for low level photography.

Cheers ^^Gord^^, ive got the Nikon AF-S VR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens and i didnt want to spend any more money as im still trying to justify buying my 12-24mm :D

does anyone know how it would fare with a 1.4 or 1.7 tele convertor ? as its not the quickest of lens at 300mm ?
