Also called Snowdonia! Spent yesterday stuck on the side of a mountain shooting the RAF do low fly (down to 250 feet) training from the valleys.

It was well worth doing but it's a long day. About 150 miles for me to get there and you need to be there and in place by 9am. The climb up is a challenge, 250-300 feet at angle more than a 50 degrees (and increasing). The only way is to go in a zig zag up as it's too steep to do straight up. It was 11c at the car park, add to that the extra height and windchill it gets cold up there and the trip down is even worse. Made worse when I fell and landed on my ass soaking my jeans straight through shortly after watching two Tornados go through the Valley togeather (why didn't I stay 15 minutes longer!!! 
)
The light was pretty aweful and spent the day on ISO 800 to 1600 which was a shame but we had a good number of aircraft come through (the Lakes had bad weather so I think some diverted to Snowdonia).

The noise level wasn't bad at all on the slopes but in the valley is was a tad loud! There was a construction team repairing the road in the valley, poor souls must be near a breakdown with the RAF straifing (sp?) them all day!

They usually fly from about 9:15am on to about 5:30pm, although it tails off in the afternoon.

Cheers but that is the lot from me for a while, back at work on Monday and with all the flying done in the weekdays I won't get a chance to shoot anymore for a while.

Quick question, any issues with damp and cameras up a mountain like that?, I have a 350D which arent waterproof and would like to have a go at something like this myself.

Although it was raining in the next valley I didn't have any rain where I was. There was damp in the air (as you can see from the Tornado's wingtips) but nothing to worry about. I had my Lowepro all weather bag with me in case it got too bad.
You do spend a large proportion of the time waiting for the jets so you could put your camera into a bag as long as you can get it out very quickly (you have less than 10 seconds from the first sign that a jet is inbound to stand up, position yourself and to get the jet in the frame).
I'd be more worried about slipping on the rocks and throwing your camera off the edge than the damp

Cheers! I've been dumping pictures on there for the last three years going from an Canon IXUS, to a Sony F717, to a Panasonic FZ3 and finally a Canon 20D. Hopefully you can see some improvement as well!
