I got the chance to get a tour of RAF Lyneham on Thursday. For those not into their aviation, it's the RAF base for the C130 Hercules aircraft (both J and K models) used for transporting troops, cargo, paratroop drops, resupply and sadly transporting KIA back to the UK.

Thanks to Martin (CAG) for the chance to tour the base.

I won't post all the photos but if you want to see them then they can be found here:

some nice shots there. I like 2 and 6
Since you live in the area have you been to fairford. you can get a pass for the air tatto the day before it opens to take pictures of all the aircraft as they land. since most of the aircraft just stay on the ground you can get some nice pics of landing.

Unfortunatly I don't live in the area but I do hope to get to the arrival day at RIAT. I can't make the departure day or the day itself as I've got a wedding to goto.

went a few years ago and shot 1200+ pictures (most were crap but a few good ones)

may go again this year

Great shots there. Reminds me of back in October when I travelled on one! Tactical Take offs and landings 4tw :D

Love the HUD too! :D

Liking the last two the best. The first of these two is a great angle, and the second has spot-on prop blur. :)

well, it was worth it, it looks fantastic.

Why was it so hard to go? is it barely visable or what?

Greg

The visibility was very good (much better than the one I used on the C130-J simulator) but to get a picture with all the content and getting it readable was tricky.
