Spent a day this week trying to get some more low level jet action but saw very little in the end and spent most of the day getting rained on or blown about. :(

The day was saved by the appearance of an RAF Merlin which are very rarely seen at low level and to my knowledge this is the first time in Wales.

really nice love the rotor blur, would have liked to see a bit more of the background in sharp focus though

Thanks, it's a balancing act of getting nice rotor blur and a sharp image. You need to remember that the Merlin isn't static so you are panning at 1/200s @ 300mm, this will naturally blur the background.

plus from looking at your pics which are amazing by the way, you also have the heat from the engines stopping you from getting a sharp background

everybody was in N. England/Scotland on Skylance or Neptune Warrior.

The front liners were but you can usually count on 208(R) and 19 Sqn but I think there had been an avoid put on part of the low fly system due to civy traffic opperating in the area (although it wasn't NOTAM'ed).

That helicopter looks so funkeh cool. Some nice shots there. I reckon they washed the chopper before they went out. Must have know you'd be there. ;)
