Being about 18 months since my last visit to RAF Shawbury I decided to open my photography for 2010 with a visit.

Most people go to shoot the aircraft in storage. I go to shoot the helicopters! I could happily sit on the ramp and shoot them all day.

A couple photos with more and a bit of text on my site....

Nice pics.

Just a heads up, some images arn't loading on your site and the text is moving out of its frames. (This is on Safari 4.0.3)

Works fine on Firefox tho, maybe a few tweaks to it are needed?

Dumb question but how far are you allowed in? I'm not a million miles from there so quite fancy a mooch up with the camera.

I really like them mate. Wish Chivenor was still RAF, but now there's nowhere particularly close to me to get those kinds of shots.

Thanks, I guess RNAS Yeovilton would be closest place for you. Plenty of helos there!

Interesting, I've not tested it on Safari expect from my iPhone. Should work fine on IE / Firefox although they don't render it the same. Will check the percentage of Safri users, might not be worth the effort testing it against that as well. :p

Shawbury do organised tours (its the exception to the rule!) so you get pretty close! ;)
