RAGE got me RAGEING!

Dear god! As many know im pretty hard up atm saving for a wedding this june, so when i see rage i game i enjoyed playing on console on sale at GAME for 3quid and some pennys i thought sod it why not should be fun to play it on a decent little machine, easily one that pwns my xbox 360. (AMD Athlone x4 640 8gig ram 2gb sapphire hd 7850) Would it run? Would it hell! Cut about the forums here there and everywere trying all kinds of fix's, finnaly got it to work with a few .cfg add ons and tweeks this morning played for a bit and was mega chuffed with how it looked and ran. Comes to plying it tonight and nothing, tryed 9 times and each time it just black screened and stopped working! :'( Tryed every fix going belive me so not looking for help just wanted a rant lol. Its soured me so much i wont be giving id anymore of my pennys. Would like to add that litteraly 100's of people are having the same issues so if your thinking of getting it on a steam or game sale i'd really not bother.

The problem I have now is that I'd never really looked at rage, I'd heard the name but didn't know a thing about it until I read this then googled it, now I want to play it!

I'm going to resist, partly because of your warning and partly because I have plenty games to be going at without buying another!

Haven't played an id game since... ooh Quake 3 arena. They aren't really relevant in today's competitive PC market. Plenty of other engines, like CryEngine, etc, to choose from these days.

And as much as I liked Quake and Q2, id haven't really made a decent single player game for years now. By all accounts, RAGE is pretty crap.

It's shame it's no longer working for you. Have you tried a different driver?

Although imo it didn't quite live up to the hype, I still enjoyed it rather a lot. Must pick up the dlc sometime.

I don't get the hate for Rage. It's not a great game, but it's fairly fun. Being disappointing doesn't mean it's bad.

really enjoyed rage on the ps3 has its faults but still thought it very good. have picked it up cheap on steam but not got back round to it yet

Dont get me wrong i actually like the game already finished it on xbox and it ran with no bothers but trying to get it on my pc is an absolute nightmare, i've tryed a good 8/10 different fix's with no luck whatsoever just gave up and delteted it. glad i only paid 3quid for it lol

Haven't sampled RAGE yet, because of the so-so reviews. TBH, coming from id, it would have to be AAA in every department otherwise it would be panned to high hell, so ingrained is id's significance in early FPS and PC gaming in general.

I played the **** out of Doom, D2, Quake, Quake 2 and Quake 3 looong time. Loved all with a passion.

Doom 3, I liked it
Quake 4 was alright
Quake Live hasn't brought the magic back for me

Either I'm broken or something is up with id's ability to deliver a truly GREAT contemporary PC game...

I originally played RAGE and completed it, quite enjoyed it. I then got the DLC that came out a while ago and reinstalled the game for it. Since then it's had some 64-bit update which doesn't seem to work properly, for me anyway.

Trying to run the 32-bit executable just results in the game process loading and then stopping moments later. My game saves are 32-bit and can't be used with the 64-bit version so I just gave up with it.

Don't judge ID on Quake 4. They didn't develop it, Raven did.

There's lots of comments in here that sum up how I feel about Rage. I thought it was a tad disappointing after all the hype... but it was still a great game and I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on it for the world.
