So I opened up my save file today on RAGE, which I have only played for approx 3.5 hours. Everything was tinted really dark blue and I could not play the game. I have looked in the update steam news and this paragraph appears.

"If after changing the Texture Cache to LARGE you experience a crash or texture corruption (like a partially or completely blue world) then the graphics driver may have run out of memory."

Okay, So I understand my 5850 only has 1gb of vram so I can imagine this is nearly if not maxing out. So I proceed to turning EVERYTHING down to bear minimum. Close down game/steam, Restart pc to make sure everything is good. So I go to re-launch the game all hopes up and the same problem still stands. So I try another save file and the same happens (to make sure the one isn't corrupt.)

Here are the screenshots: No.1 and No.2

I have also Updated the drivers recently (about 2 hours ago which made no difference)

This happened to me when I upgraded to 11.10 cats. But my screen was pink!

I had to roll back to 11.9 to cure it.

okay. Thanks for the info. How do I go about "rolling back the drivers" Many thanks for the response too.

Download DriverSweeper from here http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ and make sure you have the AMD driver version you want to install handy.

Install Driver Sweeper

Remove your current driver through the Control Panel. Be sure to remove the Catalyst Application Profiles if installed aswell.

Reboot.

After rebooting, run DriverSweeper. Select AMD - Display on the right window and click Clean.

Reboot.

After rebooting, install the driver version of your choice

Reboot.

After rebooting, install the Catalyst Application Profiles that go with the driver version you are using.

REBOOT!

All done!

I just noticed that catalyst 11.11 solved the problem. after a month of waiting. Thanks for the responses.

I dont understand RAGE, Ive had a really annoying problem with it since release, even after all the latest updates, when I enter a new area/map or load up a save game, the graphics are all messed up. I have to restart the game and try again to get it to work. It dosent matter what settings I have on in the game, low or high it still does it. Its really annoying. Every other game from this era works flawlessly.
