I absolutely loved Crysis and Crysis Warhead when I played them ages ago. I literally just started Crysis 2 during the summer, (as in, not done any shooting yet) but then got into driving games. Currently playing Rage and loving it. I kind of thought Crysis 2 might be just more of the same, i.e, Crysis and Warhead were great first time around but do I really want repetition) so haven't really been excited about getting stuck into it. However, I saw today that gamespot gave it a 'great' 8.5. I was half expecting them to give it a score of 'meh' out of 10. So my question is, is Crysis 2 as much, more, or less enjoyable than Rage?

Crysis 2 is the better game. It's nothing like the first two Crysis games which may or may not be a good thing. Both Crysis 2 and Rage weren't too well received around here but Rage is definitely the bigger disappointment of the two.

Rage is fun enough but as said, it was a bit of a let down in some ways.

I've not got that far in Crysis 2 but it seems to be a better job at telling a story than Rage. I would say that it's likely that Rage has slightly more variety in terms of gameplay though (I really enjoyed the racing sections) so I guess it really depends which of those two factors are more important to you.

Well it's odd, because in some ways I enjoy some of the side missions which aren't part of the main story in rage, (not keen on the car races at all but I like shooting the baddy cars en route to a mission site, and not at all interested in playing any of the card games), otoh, I'm looking forward to playing a game such as Crysis 2, where you're only focused on the story without the distraction of side missions to effectively pad the game out.

Crysis 2 is arguably the worst shooting game I've ever played.

Of course, this is coming from a massive fan of Warhead and the original Crysis so I'm slightly bitter that the game is considerably worse than the first. It's probably not that bad, if you were a big fan of the first you'll probably hate it. It's a shadow of the earlier games.

Plot is terrible and filled with holes bigger than the one in the mid-atlantic. The shooting in generic and feels like it's trying to be CoD (and doing badly, set peices are meh at best) and the graphics aren't that groundbreaking as the first either. The weapons are boring and the "upgrades" are extras that do very little to alter the gameplay. They've also condensed some of the suit powers to make it simplified. I forced myself to complete it just so I could pass a fair judgement. One of the first times I've ever actually been bored for more than half of a game.

Never played rage so can't comment on that.

This is exactly my stance on the matter...although I have Rage downloading as I type.

Oh dear, that's a pity, now I'm not looking forward to Crysis 2 anymore :(
