I hope it's not like my X1900XT stock fan was, that thing really droned when gaming. I suppose there'll be 3rd party coolers like the VF900 available soon enough.

My G/F wants a new card, but she detests any noise from her case.

As far as I can tell from the photos it uses a standard X19xx series cooler mounting hole arrangement.

I hope it's not like my X1900XT stock fan was, that thing really droned when gaming. I suppose there'll be 3rd party coolers like the VF900 available soon enough.

My G/F wants a new card, but she detests any noise from her case.

Im assuming he means it just kicks into 3d mode and theres a momentary roar, kinda like when you boot up your pc with an x1900 installed, roars for about 3 secs then quietens down.


Ati themselves stated that the fans this time round would be much quieter, they bloody well better be.

The fan in those pics (the Rage3D link) looks like the 8800 fan to me, and nothing like my X1900XT fan. Hopefully it's as quiet as the 8800s.

That's not what hes talking about....the fan screw mounting fittings are the same as the 1900XT.

Can't see why it wouldnt be, W1zzard would know more ofc, theres more info about the fittings over @ XS and Rage 3d.
