Raid 0 Unallocated Space

So My Raid 0 decided it doesn't want to be a raid 0 any more.

Both drives are working fine and are not broken.

However they state "unallocated" in Disc Management.

I have used many software to view the drives and it shows up all the files on them.

Problem is these all cost around £40-£50 and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to recover these files.

Cheers

as above.. What software have you used?

Have you tried botting from a linux live DVD?

I use Trinity.. comes with full lost partition recovery although I've ot tried this over RAID.

Sorry but this is an example of why raid shouldn't be used as a backup solution.

I can press CTRL-I when booting and one said Member Disc (0) and the other said non member disc.

I tried to make them into a raid0 again but they don't show in my computer and show under Disc Management as Unallocated Space.

I have not tried linux or anything...

I liturally got home moved the PC about 2 metres (due to moving furniture around) and then turned it on.

this is an example of why RAID 0 shouldn't be used! Striping as fat as im concerned shouldn't even be classified as RAID. The "R" after all is Redundant and there aint no redundancy in striping.

I do use 2x4TB WD Red's in my small NAS box for backup in a RAID 1 mirror which is perfectly safe and recoverable.

a RAID 0 set though.......hmmm. erm NO.

I've successfully used Raid Reconstructor from runtime.org. Theres a free demo you can use to see if it will recover, but you will have to pay to actually do the recovery.

Used it to rebuild a borked RAID5 that decided to drop 2 drives from a 3 drive array.

EDIT: You would also need a 3rd drive to copy your recovered data onto.

The Intel Matrix RAID writes the information to the drives fo this purpose and in theory you can transfer any array to a similar controller and it should find the array. so if the physical HDD is ok it should find the striping information on the set and be able to recover it.

I use this intel raid matrix thing but they both say Non-RAID disc.

When I click Create a read it does it fine yet when the computer is booted up there is NO HDD or anything listed in My Computer other than the OS SSD.

But Disc Manager lists it as unallocated space.

somewhere down the line its lost the info on the disk by the sound of it.

I would look at the recovery software to see if at least it can be recovered or not. but dont change any setting at all as this will make matters worse.

All Recovery Software I found detects all the files but wants over £50 to recover any of it...

To say the stuff I want recovering is video editing stuff that can be re-created but will take many hours I would rather re-create it than spend £50...

Going to format all my PC now and never use RAID 0 again

dont blame you.

Use RAID 1 going forward. the worst that happens here is the mirror gets broken and you end up with 2 disk containing the same data, but at least you have the data!

RAID 0 is a performance thing and no use for backup

Annoying thing was I was going to back up my data this week... Most of the stuff is just gaming related which is easily re-downloaded.

Ok so I was liturally about 1 minute away from formatting my PC and calling it a loss.

My cousin replied to me telling me to look at this software So I did.

The software (Like ALL the other software) found the files but didn't recover them as you had to pay for a license.

Sceptical As I was due to the random Russian on the website and that I thought seems sketchy.

The license was only £13.90 so If It was bogus then Its not a major loss plus you can pay via PayPal so I could try to claim it back.

But no need for any of that... Its Found all my files and is in the process of recovering it onto my external HDD.

Its Called DMDE - DM Disk Editor and Data Recovery Software

Website is http://dmde.com/
