Hi all,

Hopefully my 2 Western Digital Raptor X drives will turn up in the morning and i want to set them up into a RAID 0 system, running Vista Home Premium.
What do i do first??????????

Cheers

:D

Do you need raid drivers with Vista? I installed it without putting in any extra driver disks and it works perfectly....may be wrong tho.

just in case :)

i do not have a list off all the drivers vista comes with pre built in, and it is just your luck that its the only drive that they don't include as its newer than the latest release of vista :P

Hi again,
What i'm hoping is -

plug in both drives
Boot into BIOS
Set up RAID through BIOS
Reboot
Reinstall Vista on to RAID drives

Is it that easy??????????

Thats what I did for mine and it worked first time. May have been lucky tho as I didn't need any additional driver disks (not that I knew where they where) + the pc does not have a floppy disk drive.

For Raid probably, and on Nvidia you do and the proper drivers are better anyhow.

The NForce Mobo drivers actually tell you this at installation and tell you what files to grab from the archive and put on a Floppy/CD/USB Stick.

Dont use old Asus drivers, grab the complete driver for your Mobo from Nvidia, extract them to a folder and put the needed folder (read inc read me) onto removable media.

No, i just looked at the picture of the board on the Packard Bell website and it says
P5N - E SLi on the board, so i'm just downloading the ASUS RAID drivers, then i'll have a look for the nVidia dvrs,

Cheers

When you say setup RAID through bios, do you mean you are just enabling the RAID? You do realise you need to go in to the RAID bios (which is different) to set up the RAID. Once you have enabled the RAID controller in the bios you will get a prompt to press a key combination to load the RAID bios (intel is CTRL + I, not sure about nvidia but it will say on the screen).

Once you are in to the RAID bios you will then need to select the drives you want to RAID, the level of RAID and any additional options on that level.
