Hi all i have around 2TB of data that i dont want to lose.

What type of raid setup do i want to backup my data?

I have only ever used Raid 0 in the past, would the setup be the same via the bios except the type of raid used?

Will i have to move the 2TB of data in order to setup the raid backup? or can i simply add a identical drive and away i go with the backup.

Just need a bit of educating on this please.

I'd backup onto somethign rather than using raid, if you accidently delete / corrupt a file raid will not help you.. I'd only use raid on a server but you would obviously still backup...

To mirror you want raid 1, however I would get a 2tb drive install it and jsut copy the data over via a batch file, or use software like acronis..

RAID1 is what I'd use, but I agree it's not really a backup - just redundancy. If you've set up RAID0 before you should manage RAID1 fine.

RAID is for: I don't want to lose my data AND I don't want it to be unavailable for any period of time.

Backups are for: My house burnt down/my PC got surged/my PC was stolen/I spilt a beer on my PC and the PSU blew up taking out my HDDs and everything... type situations. Which RAID doesn't account for.
