Raid controller card in PCI E 16x slot?

Im planning to buy a raid card for my asus p5k board. The card is a PCI E 4x card, however on my mobo i have no space except for the secondary graphics slot which is PCI E 16x.

Will the raid card function correctly in this slot?

it should be fine, bumping downward on the other hand...

The second slot is only x4 anyway, as said it'll work fine though it will stop any x1 slots working.
