Hi all, not sure if I am posting in the correct place, I have a NL40 Microserver which has 2 x 1TB RE4 drives in, the Microserver doesnt come with what they call "Full hardware RAID" its more a hybrid of SATA RAID Controllers but you need software I think. I have been looking at AMD RAIDXpert but not sure if this is working correctly.

From the BIOS I have two physical drives (1 x 1TB) and configured one logical drive

I have windows installed and its only showing 1 drive (drive0) with the partitions I created during the OS installation

100MB reserved for boot
110GB for OS
850~GB for DATA

I want this mirrored on to the second drive, however when I load AMD RAIDXPert software it not giving me much info other than I have 2 physical drives of 1TB, 1 logical drive of 1TB.

If I open windows disk management it only shows one disk (disk0) split in to 3 partitions (boot, OS and data)

So is this actually being mirrored do you think through RAIDXpert?

If you need anymore info I guess I can post screenshots etc

EDIT: Think I have it working now through RAIDXpert, currently syncing the disks

That is normal, Windows will not see individual RAID member disks only the volumes exposed by the RAID controller (even if it is a soft RAID motherboard based controller like the AMD one you are using which is a rebadged Promise solution)

Cool, yeah just wanted to check, it has completed synchronizing so I can now setup email alerts and give it a test by whipping one of the drives out.

Thanks :)
