Hey, was wondering if someone could make this a bit clearer for me.

I've read up about the addon pack and what it brings to raiding, new instances, new kits etc, with a cap of 25.

What I can't understand, is what they're going to do with all the old 40 man instances, like MC/BWL/AQ/NAXX, I mean are they just going to be rendered totally useless? Surely nobody would ever want to go there again?

In which case, why bother hosting them on the servers? Just make up some story like how they've been destroyed and close them? Wouldn't that just be a simpler way of doing things?

Am I missing something totally here? I just don't understand.

The old 40man instances will be left as they are :( , bit of a shame really. Hopefully they'll mod them so that they're set up for 25man level 70 sometime in the future, but Blizzard have said they have no plans to change them at all.

Even if they made them a prequest for some of the later dungeons would be a decent idea.

Jokester

25 level 70's will be able to just breeze through places such as naxx, but why bother as the items will be worthless. Its just a case of moving on, theyre there if you want a nostalgic trip..

Just glad I quit and didnt flog my guts out getting further than BWL. After BWL i realised the game was the same. Your first couple of MC raids are special then the novalty wears off. Grind MC get fire res, then grind BWL to get nature res while flogging your guts out with Cenarion circle to get nature gear for slogging it out in AQ40 etc etc...

Months of work ruined but not my work fortunately. :)

people who dont get tbc will still raid there i guess. also i guess if ** leveling alts, and need good gear your guild can take a few members at level 70 and not have any trouble, but the level 60 can get good gear.

i also heard, that setting the difficulty to heroic, gives better loot.

im only guessing here, but maybe it raises it to level 70 difficulty, with level 70 loot.

I've wondered this for a while - apparently, the level70 blues will be 'on par' with the Tier1 epics (from MC) which makes MC pointless. I suppose you could still head to Naxx with 40 level70's, would be reasonably easy and their would still be viable rewards.

Glad they're focusing more on the 5man stuff though, playing through those with my mates is far, far more fun than the 40man raids.

No, the first instances in TBC have loot about on par with Tier 2, maybe beyond. Level 70 blues are well beyond those of Naxx.

All the current 40 man instances will pointless in the same way that Gnomerigan is pointless when you reach lvl 30+ or SM when you're over 45 etc.

There are a ton of 5 mans in TBC plus the Caverns of Time and Kharazahn, plus a load of 25 man Raids. All the 5 mans in TBC will be re-doable at lvl 70 on Heroic for better loot. They won't just have mobs with more health either, the encounters will be far more complex too.

Basically TBC will change the game completely for 60+ but that's no bad thing imho.

The thing that is most annoying for me is that Blizzard knew that 40 man raids were a joke tbh, which is why they've changed it. But, they knew they were going to change it when they were developing TBC and releaseing new 40 man raids. WTF if it doesnt work then why release more of the same rubbish. They could easily have released 25 man AQ and Naxx.

Perhaps wanted to try something out while they're beta testing elsewhere. After all, if everyones used to 40mans, it makes sense to really shake these things up with an expansion, rather than just a new content patch, because these werent little dungeons, they were (are) the endgame content.

i read a blue post ages ago sayin that a good 10man group of lvl 70's could breeze through MC.

Can easily do it with 15 people now tbh, much like onyxia can be 5-manned.
