I wouldnt mind enjoying a ride on a virtual train and enjoying the scenary and weather effects and sounds. But not into sims really. But seeing this as been cheap on steam atm is it worth getting for someone who just wants to do missions and enjoy the journey on a virtual train without learning loads of stuff about how to get the train to work i.e is there a easy mode with simple controls for those who want it and more advanced if other hardcore sims want it so it helps a more wide range of players?

Also is there any UK tracks in the default game or is it just purely american based and so i wont see any English trains or routes? Also if i do get it do i get the game with or without the horseshoe route as theres the original game for 2.49 or somit and one with the horseshoe for 2.99.

Ah bought it for a fiver which has the american hauler pack with it too. Just a fiver so if i dont like it its not a lot to have wasted. I noticed on the wiki that it had a lot of UK routes with one being york to newcastle which should have sunderland along the way so i think id be happy going on that route.

Just hope its not too hard to learn and use and hope it runs okish on high with weather effects on.

13gb so ill have to wait till after 9pm tonight to download it and try it out.

There are some UK tracks included, make sure you nip into the options and turn on Simple Controls, should be good for casual game play.

I've enjoyed what I've played of it. :)

edit. When you set up the graphics make note not to drag the AA slider all the way up. Look at the settings it is applying, with the slider up full it renders the game at 3x the resolution then downscales it.

Hmm that could cause issues if aa is a killer in this game, maybe FXAA is better to force on in nvidia settings.

Btw i dont think the newcastle to york includes sunderland. Any ideas how i can get sunderland to newcastle route as thats what i mainly wana do if possible or at least sunderland to anywhere.

I also bought the TS2012 + Haulin' USA pack.

I played the first 'Railworks' when it was just Rail Simulator, and that was good. Certainly a step up from the original MS Train Sim. As above, there are good simplified settings to choose from if you so desire.

With regards to the Sunderland part, I'm really not too sure. I think the DLCs are typically made to model 'famous' or 'historical' parts of mainlines and therefore you can't just buy/drive to places you know.

I hope this is for railworks 3. :)

Also i wonder what the best site is to get mods for this game/sim as i dont fancy getting them payed dlc if there is mods that do it for free and maybe better quality.

Had a quick go of it, using high settings FXAA and ran ok in the tutorial. Gona try max settings see how i fair. The incar view i.e sit with passengers is nice but i would have liked to stand and walk around and choose a seat i wanted to as atm all i could do is switch to a 1 seat view and if your reversing then you cant look the way you want i.e the seat in front looking the right way. :p
