I'm going to buy some Nikwax Visor Proof in an attempt to keep my visor clear in heavy rain. Before I do, does anyone have any other remedies for rain on a visor? Before anyone suggests it, a wipe of a glove does not work on my visor with my gloves!

I have always found stuff you put on your visor to be a complete waste of time.

A glove with a decent pad on the index finger is what I end up with.

There was a stand at the MCN bike show last weekend that was selling some visor rain bead spray and I bought some. As it's not rained since I bought it I haven't had the chance to test it but I'll post in here once I have.

It's called Visor Kleen Rain Bead System.

Glove + finger. You'll never have a clear visor in heavy rain, tbh I find light rain or fog worse than heavy rain, the droplets aren't big enough to clump together and run off, whereas heavy rain just runs off with the occasional wipe.

I haven't tried a rain repellent but a good finger wipe works well if you've got relatively light rain, in heavy rain, I just have to stop and clean my visor so I'd like to know how you get on with the Nikwax.

just turn the head to the side till the wind clears it

I've heard this before but doesn't really work for me in London, plus I hate taking my eyes off the road.

I use RainX on my visor, it only makes a difference at 50mph +.

HJC specifically say it's OK on their visors, though it's not apparently not OK on some other visors.

At that speed rain isn't an issue as you can turn your head slightly to blow it off. It's below that speed where something might be useful.

around town/slow speedsI just lift the visor up occasionally and squint, then back down with the visor

higher speeds isn't a problem as the wind takes it away

The particular problem I have is town riding at 30-40mph where you're going too fast for visor up and too slow for it to get blown off.

Don't go out in the rain? :p

Be careful with what products you put on your visor, as some of them can turn the plastic brittle. RainX was apparently one of these.

I just use a normal glove and swipe the rain away.
Seriously heavy rain (and the resulting spray off other vehicles) is still a pain, but I'm usually more concerned with steaming up.
