Hi there,

My van has a design fault in that the windscreen wipers dump a lot of water onto the drivers side window. In heavy rain this obstructs the side mirror completely.

I was thinking of Rain X'ing the windows, do you think this would cure or help rectify this problem?

The van has a solid bulk-head, no rear doors so using the side mirrors is essential.

Any sort of glass treatment should work. I found simply using AG Glass Polish on the side windows helped immensely - water just beads up and runs off in the slipstream. Ive even heard that some people just apply wax to the glass and buff it off, which gives the same effect.

I've got those PIAA wipers and their anti-rain stuff. Works really well, I can drive with no wipers in pouring rain at about 50/60 because it beads off so well :)

i just use whatever polish i have to hand on the windows. super resin polish works great for keeping rain off the glass

does fast glass get smashed bugs off easier etc? whats so good about fast glass?

I think Fast Glass is just a re branded generic glass cleaner. Just spray it on and then wipe it off. I tend to use the Glass Polish on the outside of all the windows and give the insides a spray with Fast Glass.

I've always found that rain-x is great... for one day. Then it leaves the glass greasy, and (especially with windscreens) the wipers end up causing a bigger mess than you were started with.

Just clay the glass, then use AG glass polish as said.

I had that issue the first time I used it. Rubbed it onto the glass and left it for about 5 minutes, came back and wiped off the excess and it was horrible.

Second time round I left it for around 20 minutes and it worked perfectly for ages.

I've used 476s wax on my glass inc windscreen, no problems at all and better than rainx beading!

Obviously it doesn't last as long as it does on the body panels so it's not worth wasting the wax in the long run :p

ive done the same a million times myself.

it was invaluable when going to lemans in the heavy rain. the water was being cleared almost completely just by the wind as you drove along. it did wear off eventualyl though, but what wouldnt?
