Rainbow Six Vegas - Which platform?

I have 2 choices, PC or PS3,

with the ps3 i get:

Nice graphics without straining hardware or anything.
Graphics, although not 360 standard, arnt bad at all.
Decent multiplayer, no real communication though.

Im not sure about PC, ive heard reports that it runs poor on 8800GTS's and its generally not as good as the console versions. But pc is a lot cheaper.

Anyone care to help?
 
dont buy the pc version, it is a REALLY bad port in terms of performance
I tested on a 1950xtx 512mb and a GTS 8800 640Mb both are poor performers with settings maxed (fps drops below 40 on some scenes at 1024x786!, measured using fraps)

PS3 version hands down

i play it maxed out on my 7800GTX, 2gb ram and amd x2 64 4400+ @ 1280 x 1024

The only place i ran into trouble is on top of the dam when the FPS dropped below 40.
 
I play it on my Core2Duo/2gb RAM/7950GTX Go @ 1600x1200 without issue. You do notice its a poor port though - lack of widescreen (I'd like 1680x1050) and graphics options :(

Having said that though, co-op is great fun :)

got it for my PC, 8800GTS320mb as well, runs like a beauty. i'll get back to you in a minute with some more info (ie fps/res/details etc)

2GB (pretty much generic) RAM
8800GTS 320 @ stock
1280x960 (no widescreen support as mentioned above or it would be 1680x1050)
every option at max/on

i get between 30 and 60 fraps, with an average of 40, which is more than enough to play the game nicely, would be interesting to know what the fraps are like on a PS3

ignore the above, i had v sync on, once that was turned off i get 60+ on max@1600x1200 (appart from certain choke points)

i'm on vista, but seem to remember it being slightly better FPS on XP (only slightly :p) with similar settings

edit2: looking around it seems the PS3 version of the game does not run well at all (have seen similar quotes of 24-30 FPS) so you may as well go PC, it'll be cheaper, and look just as good if not better.

edit3: having fiddled about with the settings, trying min/mx etc i found it makes little difference to the fps

playing it on a 8800gtx at 1680x1050 maxed, amd it plays at above 60 pretty much all the time. Only time its dipped are in random places ( like the first level, near the house with the radio and the party streamers) probably due to shoddy programing mistakes. Apart from that i havent noticed any slowdown whatsoever.

plus mouse and keyboard >>> controller for fps, espeically tactical fps's.

Ok thanks, i have similar spec to you then, a 8800gts 640mb, e6400 @ stock, 2gb of generic ram, shame about the widescreen though.

Is the multiplayer any good/active?

edit: Apprently widescreen support was added in the latest patch 1.05?

Another question, can you automaticly patch the game through te multiplayer menu?

well...as far as i know i have mine patched, and still cant use widescreen
 
Vegas is a great game. I haven't played it on any other platform besides PC though. The co-op is bloody excellent. I had no problems with performance.

i though multiplayer is great personally, shame there arent many people playing conquest as that was my favorite
