...anyone use it? I added some Comma Rain Repellent Gel to my car windows the other way, but found that adding it to the windscreens meant that after using the wipers (Aero twins), I would get a smeary haze that made things worse.

Was wandering around Halfords the other day looking for glass cutter so I can clean it off and start again and saw that RainX also make their own washer fluid. Does anyone here use it, and if so, is it any good?

If not, I might just clean the windscreen and in future only apply rain repellents to the side windows.

Having got myself a case of this stuff for next to nothing from another trucker, I tried RainX on both my HGV and my car (at the time a BMW 728i) I can honestly say I was not that impressed with the results for my money.

Given that I'd paid roughly £1 per bottle, that says little for its effectiveness.

I've never bought any more since & sold what i did not use for a good return! :D

Keeping the Screen clean using Newspaper & Vinegar is far more effective & is what I do now.

I want to try that, but I'm not sure how....just mix some white vinegar with water, dip in some paper and scrub away?

Was going to get the glass cutter because it's only a couple of quid for a bottle.

If anyone's interested, the Comma Rain Repellent stuff does work mighty well, apart from the issue with wiper haze. Good results on side windows though.

want a laugh ? clean the outside of your screen with mr muscle glass cleaner

the reside it leaves to create that nice shiny glass finish has the same effect of making the rain run off rather than bead.

Wiper haze is dangerous, keep the stuff on your side / rear windows tbh

I use a plastic washing up bottle, full of vinegar, spray it over the windows & screen, buff off with newspaper.

Then I wash the car & leather it off including the glass and it comes up great.

On the truck, I put vinegar in the washer bottle and wipe the wiper blades with newspaper.

I've used rainx before. It's applied to the window. It's simply amazing. Need to clean your window well. get some methylated spirits to completely degrees and clean the window. Then apply rainx. allow to dry, wipe off. Apply another layer allow to dry. Then wipe it of and polish with a bit of cloth. Do that and it's simply a stunning product.

Im talking about the stuff they make that is basically stuff you put the washer fluid reservoir though. Wondering if it will have the same effect, keep the window clean each time I use the washers, not not smear like the gel im using currently.

R124/LA420...you mean those sprayer bottle things? Gonna have to find one in the kitchen and pinch it methinks :D

In the washer bottle, don't forget screen wash also as it won't freeze. I add vinegar to the screenwash as an extra.

Yes mate, any empty washing up liquid bottle or "Mr Muscle" type container with the trigger will do. :)

Just get the normal rainx it's brilliant stuff.

Why bother paying for that stuff when your kitchens full of things that'll do an equally good job - with a little effort?

I've never seen any house hold product which does that. Vinegar is good for cleaning but not water repelling.

I use the washer fluid rainx. Works ok, water runs off the windscreen quicker etc (although not amazingly well). Makes the wash+wipe (squirt of water followed by X wiper movements) not work above ~50mph in my fiesta though, water flows off the screen before the wipers have got to it....:p

Funny that, when I've polished my screen clean, using the methods I describe, if I don't put on my wipers, the water beads off easily.

Each to his own, if RainX works for you, use it! :)

What I do when I can be bothered to clean the car. Also always make sure I fully clean the wiper blades. No point putting horrid dirty blades on a clean screen.

Ive tried this stuff. Did it all to the letter of the instructions, and it went on patchy, it now smears the rain across my windscreen. It works, but when the blades are wiping, there is a haze which takes a second or 2 to disappear. Needless to say, i wont be reapplying it.
