My USB wireless arrived from itsallaboutyou, muchas gracias.

However, I plugged it in, nothing.

Then I read it used Ralink 2500 chipset, so downloaded the Ralink utility, installed and ran. It now gets picked up and can scan for networks and even connect to my network. Yet it doesn't appear to the OS as being a network. Anybody got experience of the Ralink utility or can point me in the direction of how to get it to recognise the network?

Well it's hardware I'm plugging into a Mac... Yet I'm trying to get the software working for it. I want it somewhere where the Mac-types can diagnose, so either here or Mac Software please.

I'm not sure how, but I think it's working... Do I need to have this Ralink software open all the time? I looked in System Profiler and it was appearing under USB devices, but not under network. When I then went into Network properties for the 37th time, it told me that en1 was online. Even though it was appearing as en1 when I did an ifconfig at very first.

Conclusion: I'm so confused.

I used that for Hackintosh to get wireless working, and yes you need it all the time I'm afraid :(

I just quit it and it carried on working, I'll do a reboot and see if the network gets picked up without it starting in a bit.

No, it won't work without it open...

So, here's one for you Mac types: how do I get this program to open automatically, but to be hidden completely. A service?

Right, that seems to have half achieved it. It's still there when I alt+tab though. Am I just being too picky now? :)

itsallaboutyou - did you have to unplug and plug in again everytime you logged in? :p

It seems like a half-hearted attempt at some software. Why couldn't they just build a driver so it integrates, rather than having to use their tool to search for networks and stuff. Not that I'm ungrateful might I add!
