Rally Sims

Use a Momo myself and even then it's a damn hard game to master. Having said that controlling the cars is instinctive and consistant. You're on the edge the whole time using power and steering to control the car just like it should be

What an amazing, absorbing and damn hard game :)

The graphics are light years ahead of CMR2005 imo !

You need a wheel for RBR, I use a logitech Driving Force Pro, but a G25 would be even better

Have a read HERE about the physics engine in RBR. Still easily the _best_ rally sim by a long shot.

Richie.

Don't necessarily agree that you need a wheel. Can manage the game on a dual analogue pad (though it takes some getting used to). It is bloody good though and I totally agree with people saying how good the look and feel of the game is. CMR is like Outrun or NFS in comparison.

One of the real nice touches is the marshalls jumping out the way in there luminous jackets, makes me laugh every time & i shout at them :p

What used to annoy me though was when you would hit a person and then the whole game stops as if you've reset the car...most of the time the spectators/marshalls would have had plenty of time to get out of the bloomin' way.

ok ive had rbr for a week now and im using a g25! 1st thing is OMG at the dust effects!!! and secondly at how amazing it feels! its a shame they will probs not bring out a sequal :( defo better than colin mcrae they are not in the same league!

I had the misfortune ;) of testing this game during development for months. Some of the lap times we were getting were pretty good, but then when it's 9-6 pretty much non stop for months they should have been! Probably one of the more enjoyable games to test over a long period due to the fact it's such a hard game.

Even though I could get round the tracks I never felt fully confident and it always demanded every last brain cell, one tiny lapse in concentration and it's all over.

I love the way it tears your nerves to shreds for the very reason above. In CMR or similar, hit a tree at 80mph and you just bounce off and go on to still comfortably win the stage with your car just making a funny noise and your paintwork scratched.

In RBR, It's possible to lose control of the car by hitting a pot hole wrong on a straight and end up upside down in the nearest tree. GAME OVER.........

Like the post above, for this very reason and the way that the road seems very narrow and there is little if any room for error that you play through a stage in a cold sweat knowing that the tiniest of errors = disaster.

As frustrating as this sounds, the feeling when you get it right is something that I have never felt during ANY racing game.

Also with a pad it's scary, with a FF steering wheel and an in-car view, it's bloody terrifying!!! :D

Totally agree with everything zytox wrote.
I have owned this game for ever it seems but still every time i play it i am stressed and on the edge. Even though the handling is ultra consistant you are literally on the edge every second you drive. Make one mistake or lose concentration & you are off in a wall or into a tree.
Playing a full season is awesome and second to No other driving game out there. The further you get through the championship the harder it gets as the stress level rises and there is more at stake. Pushing hard enouth to win but taking care at the same time makes playing edgy and intense.
Personally i rate this game up there with the greats and feel it is the most under rated PC game ever released.

It's funny, one time I managed to get between the marshall and the side he was running to without hitting him :D

I'm just 'that' quick.

Think some reviewers were put off by the difficulty. PC Gamer gave it 90% and Games master gave it 88 so think it is more a case of under promoted rather than under rated. Reminds me of the Chronicles of Riddick game that was awesome but no-one bought it...
