just dug out my dusty old copy of Richard Burns Rally tonight and treated it to an update from RSRBR 2011 definitly kicks life back into the old game, the community has done a great job of keeping it alive all these years but i cant help but realise its only because there is no altenative, so i'm curious if anyone has heard of any rally sims out there on the horizon, i know its a bit of a niche market especially these days, but i'd love to see another proper gritty, no nonesense rally sim. Dirt is all good and fun but theres just no realism, dont even get me started on the WRC series...

Nothing coming, nothing being developed as far as I know. RBR will remain dominant for the next decade or until game development becomes so easy and streamlined that a lone person can create something better than RBR.
Slightly offtopic but it's the same problem with (NHL) hockey simulations. EHM07 was released in 2006 and we've had absolutely nothing ever since. Couple of months ago they actually completely stopped selling the game so it's now literally 100% unavailable for new players. It's also never been cracked and as it's 5+ years old game, no one skilled enough will bother to do that now. It's pretty much the same with RBR but at least there are still some brand new physical copies around of that game (as well as cracked version).

I must check out the update to RBR, but my favourite is the old Magnetic Fields "RC" Rally Championship title from 1999. It still runs on Vista, albeit sound clips a bit. Titles like Dirt or WRC don't even begin to compare when you have the full on 20+ mile pleasure of Hafren Sweetlamb or Pundershaw, especially limping in with only third gear left working in the 'box. The beauty of RC was you could finish dead last and still progress to the end, not having to place in the top three or other arcade gimmicks to unlock the next event.

Allways a been a fan of rally games, the old lombard rac on the amiga kicked it off.
Nice shout on the rc rally champ, the game was well ahead of it's time, and still worth the experience today for those that havn't been there.
Burns i have a lot of respect for, being a core pappy player with the legends and the nascar, but with rally iv'e allways floated on the middle ground... the original mcrae's, 1/2, 04 being the best of the series.
One for the pot, not technicaly rally, screamer 4x4.
Truck/jeep trials, like the old kickstart, out of the pc golden era, detailed and a lot of love from the developer.
