Hi there guys,
In my second system (the 'family' one) Ive got a basic Vista32 2.2ghz c2d etc just for general use I'm about to re-format and make the 'downstairs' computer. My Swissbit 2GB RAM stick is dead and needs replacement, it says 2GB-PC2-5300U-555 and looks to be a generic stick, no fancy cooling or stickers, it is just out of an Aldi Medion system I bought when I was in last year of school for work haha.

Anyway long story short can you advise what I should replace this with? is it worth getting 2x1gb and 2x512mb sticks or shall i just get 1x2gb or 1x2gb stick to keep it at 2gb. it was always quick enough and that was even running Cubase for audio editing and Adobe Premiere for videos etc. Although it wont be doing much of that so 2gb should be sufficient.

Anyway OCUK's prices seem a bit OTT it's like £35 for a 2gb stick? surely this is mad i've seen 1gb sticks for like £11.95 so two of those is still nowhere near £35.

Is Kingston valuRAM okay for what i need? just general day to day use nothing too strenuous. and what can i swap it with, do i need pc2-5300 5-5-5 timings? or will anything else fit?

as you can tell i know zilch about RAM, so
Thanks guys!
