heres a noob question.

I recently baught a set of Mushkin 2GB DDR HP3200.

Im trying to keep the timings fast at SPD speeds

Im running a 180 divider and an FSB of 220mhz. 2.0,2,3,6

now the rams at 186.2mhz and 3700SD 2420mhz.

If i try to up the fsb more to approach 200mhz on the ram it wont boot.

ive boosted ram voltage to 2.7 - 2.8 the max reccomended.

Does running the ram on a divider effect the latencies causing it to freak out and crash? Im using a DFI-ultra D Mboard.

on my old 1gb kit of corsair value select that could do 225mhz I could happily run this PC at 2.7ghz now im having realy big problems.

THis muskin just dosnt want to play.. i dunno what im doing wrong.

grrrr

Try putting the cas to 2.5. I had a similar problem with my gskill 2gb kit that when running a divider it wouldnt run at cas 2 so i upped it to 2.5 and all is well

No.

But running one stick of ram does.

PSU could be the problem.

Edit: This is an overclocking Q. I don't think it should be moved!

Sounds like dodgy RAM to be honest, have you tried running memtest on each stick individually?

Might be worth setting all the RAM timings to AUTO, or loading your failsafe defaults, then setting the timings.

That's what i was thinking

It sounds like your RAM's faulty imo, try upping the voltage as high as it will go, this can often cover up any faults and help it run smoothly, if this fixes it then you have faulty RAM and it's RMA time imo. :(

memtested over night all good :( at stock SPD.

but i did both sticks at once

i think i need to start slackening the timings to 3-3-3-8 or whatever and take it from there? Is that a good start? also i use 2.8v

If your memory is error free then its something else causing the problems, back off your overclock and see where you can find some stability.

I do hope this memory is Error free as I have just bought it in MM.

I won't be overclocking it though, my Opty is at 290MHz (HT) so it will be on a divider to run somewhere around 200-220MHz, as for timings 2,3,3,8 is what my OCZ Plat Rev2 (2*512) are on at the moment so I am hoping these will do something similar.

Did you resolve anything Efour2 ?

**slightly worried now**

try it with the CPU at 10x240Mhz, that means it is still running the same speed as 11x220Mhz and use a 166Mhz divider on the memory so the memory runs at 200Mhz excactly :)

But lower the HTT multiplier from 5x to 4x or even 3x (don't worry, this makes no difference to performance at all, but it will help stability a lot when overclocking the HTT)

Hello Ade ive sent you an Email.

If there absoloutley any problems with it ill pay for return postage and ill RMA it.
(dont lose the a4 sheet in the box i sent! lol)

Sorry to have scared you.

I expect its my lack of experiance that was the cause of my problems, i try to rush things and think i know more than i actually do.

Any how try it but please email me back at the first sign of ANY problem no matter what. I dont want to get a bad name on the MM for selling anything thats faulty or dodgy.

Ill be annoyed with the original seller and ill follow it up fom there. :)

;) Don't worry dude,...I wasn't going to "hunt you down" :p

I am sure they will be fine, I will be running on a divider, but I think the timings will be ok, I am currently running 2,3,3,8 and these should do that easily (but may need a tweak here and there).

I guess the key is to try and keep them as close to 200 MHz as possible (they are only rated at 400 Mhz after all) and get the timings as tight as possible @ that whilst keeping stability.

I think I will run Memtest on each individual stick as soon as though, good sugestion ;) (my DFI has the option from bios). At 200 MHz I think they will default to the settings they prefer, from there I will nudge them a little.

It took me a fair while to get my OZC PLat 2's where I wanted them, but they are rock solid.

Thanks for the "return" offer, I hope I won't need to fall back on that though.

If I have any problems at all I will report back.
Ade

Yeah just replied , £103 coming your way :)

Anyone know what procedure to follow to RMA to mushkin please?

Theres no point me venting out on guy that originaly sold these on MM ive emailed me and asked the best way to rma these things, i think hes at school still so this is going to be a nightmare to get hold of him
i just need these RMA'd .

Please dont forget to post back that Reciept! ! !! ! ! !

hello Dutchguy and Mistadave

Ive set everything to auto and its working fine.

In the DFI bios, as you may be aware theres like 1o different options on auto

I know this is a long shot and probably better answered by DFI street forums but
do you know/suggest manual settings for the ram accross all of these options?

im going to have a proper fiddle with these now to see what on my system was causing the problem.

im using a bios dated 04/06/2006 im not sure what one it is but i know these dfi boards have so many BIOS`s i dont knwo which is best
