RAM choice for 6600K

I am in the process of picking up a 6600K and Asus Prime Z270M-Plus MATX Motherboard via the MM. I will be looking to overclock the 6600 to about 4Ghz for gaming (normal and VR). What is the cheapest RAM I could get away with without taking a performance (noticeable) hit while gaming?

Will probably stick at 16Gb

The team group vulcan I have is good.
Although 3000mhz is hardly any better than the slightly slower kits.. I wouldn't worry about slightly slower if if the price difference makes it worthwhile..

Also the 6600k boosts to 3.9ghz at stock anyway ... Overclocking it to 4ghz is pretty pointless .. Aim for 4.5 or more.

Good point - 4.5 is exactly what the previous owner had it at so will probably set it there. I'm just trying to save some cash so if it's not going to effect to outcome I just trying to work out where the sweet spot is speed/price wise - I'm not looking to enter the SuperPi rankings, just want the cheapest ram that won't hold me back (DDR4 version of the old Samsung green

I ran my 6600k at 4.2 with Corsair 2133 ram, it was flawless in games. Not sure how much VR would push it but im pretty sure you could get away with 2400-2666.
