Hey, I recently upgraded my CPU and Motherboard to a Ryzen 7 3700X and the ASUS B450-F Gaming board. I never bothered getting RAM at the time but i want to sell my old gear as all 3, so i'm looking at new RAM. However, I'm new to AMD and i've heard RAM can be a little pickle to get right and was wondering what would be the best for around £100-£120. I was looking at TEAM GROUP 8Pack Ripped 16GB but I've heard that 3600Mhz doesn't always play nice, i can't seem to find a compatibility chart so i'm fairly lost. A friend told me to check if my board supported that speed, from what i can see, it says it supports 4400Mhz RAM but i thought i'd ask here and double check.

Thanks,
Andy.

The 8 pack ram should work fine and the fact that it's B-die means your less likely to run into any issues getting it up to speed.

I have the 8 pack 3200/14 overclocked and running at 3800/14 in my B450 so it's very good stuff.

Thanks, i think i will go for that. All i kinda wanted was to find someone with the same stuff as me saying it works fine and you've just done that. So i'll get the 3200 and try and learn how to overclock it to see what i can get.

Thanks!

As the 3600/14 ripped kit is currently going for the same price I would suggest going with that one as its a slightly better bin than the 3200/14.

Ooops, i already ordered the 3200/14 haha, Oh well! I was wondering, since you have the B450 like me, would the setting your use to achieve the OC work for me too? I'm kinda new to OCing memory so was hoping you're could work for me too.

Not necessarily it as even ram of the same type will have some differences like how some CPUs will overclock further than others ect. The motherboard and the CPUs IMC can all have an effect too so it's always best work out which settings work best for you rather than copying someone else's.

Anything above 2400 is classed as an overclock, setting XMP just does the overclock for you.

Ah of course! Mine is currently 3000Mhz, but as a default it runs at like 2133Mhz i think it is and only when i apply the XMP it goes to 3000Mhz. It all makes sense now haha, thanks for the help and understanding.

if your budgets £120 ish then samsung b-die is within reach i'd be aiming at b-die 4400 or 3600 at the price

most 4400 kits should be CL14 @ 3600mhz capable some say thats the sweet spot others say its 3733mhz

Yeah i ended up getting This as it has the Samsung b-die and was 3600Mhz and is also 14CL. Comes tomorrow so with a bit of luck everything will just slide into place nicely.
