Would DDR2 PC2-6400 800mhz 2 x 2gb be ok on my mobo, ASUS P5Q-AM? I tried 2gb of DDR2 PC2-5300 667mhz the other day and got black screen with no beeps :|
Brand is Kingston btw

Is that the P5QPL-AM?

There's no reason why the 800MHz RAM wouldn't work.

But then again the 667MHz RAM should work as well.

Either the 667MHz RAM was faulty or you have other issues.

What were you using before you tried the 667MHz RAM?

I had a 2gb ddr2 333mhz before the 667mhz, i swapped the sticks around and tried them on their own but as long as the 667mhz was there it wouldnt work, even on its own.

And yep its the P5QPL-AM my bad

I wasn't aware that there was such a thing as 333MHz DDR2.

667MHz DDR2 runs at 333MHz and this is doubled (Double Data Rate).

Im probably wrong, i dont know much about this stuff but it is an old stick so i dont have the packaging and it was showing 333.4MHz on CPU-Z. I sort of get what your saying but shouldn't it show 557 on CPU-Z?
