Ram concern

Pretty sure the confusion is because JEDEC state 1.5v for DDR3, the same as DDR2 is 1.8v and DDR1 is 2.5v..

http://www.jedec.org/standards-documents/docs/jesd-79-3d

"the maximum recommended voltage is 1.575 volts and should be considered the absolute maximum when memory stability is the foremost consideration, such as in servers or other mission critical devices."

This is where I believe intel are getting the 1.5v +/- 5% from, it is the spec to meet DDR3 requirements.

Ask intel if you are ok to use DDR3L (1.35v) or DDR3U (1.25v), the official answer will probably be no, it is not supported. Gigabyte will not support 1.35v RAM for example.

overclocking the k series chip by 25-30% is out of intels spec anyway so running ram at 1.65v would be the least of your worries imo

Is a Mod not a member?

I don't recall mentioning what class of member you were ;)

And how does being a Mod show you have a bigger brain, which was the point you were trying to make?

cant remember now,who cares, your right in what your saying, but if your like me and not to fussed about dram voltages esp coming from x58 then run at what voltage suits you, just means i have to run my ram at 1600mhz at 1.5v instead of 1866mhz at 1.65v so no skin off my nose
