RAM confusion

RAM isn't my strong point so I hope someone can clear things up.

I bought some of this Patriot G Series AMD 4GB RAM the other day for a new build. Whilst everything else seems to be ok, I have various issues with this.

This RAM is advertised as PC3-10666 1333MHz yet in both Sandra and CPU-Z, it shows up as PC3-8500F (533mhz) in CPU-Z and Patriot Memory 1333LLA PC3-8500U DDR3 1066 in Sandra.

I've manually put the settings in the BIOS to 7-7-7-20 which is recommended. The voltage is on Auto. I cannot change this to exactly 1.7v yet CPU-Z is showing the RAM to be at 1.5V.

I previously had every BIOS setting on AUTO and it was running at 1066 and 1.5v.

I have the Asus M4A785TD-V Evo motherboard here.

I've checked the sticks of RAM to check the label and it does indeed say it is PC10666 1333mhz 1.7v.

I've run out of ideas.

Hi ,

What are the other options on your ram voltages then. ? Is it 1.68 or 1.72 ?
You do not have to be exact if the board does not allow you too. I would try the slightly lower first then if no result try the setting higher. As long as the other settings are not miles more voltage you should be ok.

I have tried the setting slightly above 1.7v yet it still shows as running at 1.5v in CPU-Z. It only allows me to set it at increments of something like .125. Can't remember exactly what it is.

Maybe the RAM just isn't compatible. Simple as that. I knew I should have gone for something on the QVL. :(
